Call for Public Comments on the Proposed New Mediation Rules

The JCAA cordially invites you to provide it with your comments on the proposed new mediation rules. The JCAA firmly believes that receiving comments from users is vital to make our mediation a more viable and attractive option for resolving your disputes.

In respect of the objectives and summaries of the proposed new rules, please refer to the document titled “Reform of the JCAA Mediation Rules”.

The JCAA will duly conisider your comments before a final draft is submitted to the Board of Directors of the JCAA. The target date for implementing the new Rules is January 1, 2020.

For preparing the proposed draft, in June 2019, the JCAA set up the Committee for the Amendment of JCAA Mediation Rules* for reviewing the drafts initially prepared by the JCAA. Since July 2019, the JCAA had conferred with legal practitioners, in-house lawyers and academics with deep knowledge and experience in mediation, who provided thoughtful suggestions to the JCAA’s draft.
