International Arbitration Seminar: Exploring Innovative Solutions in a Changing World (17 November 2023)

Fluctuations in the global economic landscape greatly impact corporate activities. Recent challenges like pandemics, geopolitical conflicts, and rising resource, energy, and raw material prices have made risk prediction more complex. As a result of these evolving circumstances, unexpected disputes may arise during business expansion. Arbitration efficiently resolves these disputes.
The Japanese government prioritizes international arbitration. It has taken concrete steps including amendments to the Arbitration Act and the Foreign Lawyers Act. JCAA has pioneered innovative approaches like expedited arbitration, interactive arbitration and online arbitration.
As a milestone in these efforts, this government-backed arbitration event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and JAA (Japan Association of Arbitrators), aims to showcase Japan's growing arbitration system and why Japan is a preferred place for arbitration.

  This conference:
- features a three-part panel that encourages dynamic discussions involving representatives from both the public sectors in Japan and diverse international arbitration experts.
- targets a wide audience, including small and mid-sized enterprises, large corporations, legal professionals, researchers, both within Japan and abroad.
- follows a hybrid format, combining physical venue and online platform to facilitate idea exchange and network building among participants.

This seminar is supported by United Nations UNCITRAL, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, JETRO, SME Support Japan, Japan Federation of Bar Association(JFBA)s、Japan International Dispute Resolution Center (JIDRC), Japan International Mediation Center Kyoto (JIMC),CIarb East Asia Branch and Transnational Dispute Management.
